东方红<5>型内燃机车车轴齿轮箱螺旋锥齿轮折断是该型机车当前最严重的质量问题。对该齿轮齿根应力进行的静态及动态试验结果说明,轮齿折断的原因是齿根应力超过许用应力。对齿轮弯曲应力进行的理论计算与试验结果相符。试验结果还表明,加大齿根过渡圆弧半径,可降低齿根弯曲应力;车轮空转会造成齿轮过载;在用万向轴相互连接的各车轴间,轮径差也会使轮径大的车轮过载,使齿根产生更高的弯曲应力。文中给出了调车机车使用条件下适用于车轴齿轮箱螺旋锥齿轮的动载系数值,并提出了改进该齿轮弯曲强度的建议。
