Language learning experiences have been an important part of my life till date. However, out of all those experiences, some have been extremely effective (有效的) while some were not. At that point in time, I thought, maybe, my effort in learning was less in certain cases but today when I look back and think, I feel that all those classes, though with the same aim, were very different in their ways to get to it.
Talking of the experiences, I would like to share, the first goes back to my pre-school days when I was first taught English, an alien (陌生的) language to me then. As children, I believe, our Language Acquisition Devices (LADs) was at its greatest strength. As a result, our responses towards the language were highly strong. What truly kept us eager to learn were the various activities (word games, picture games, group activities etc.) organized by the trainer. Being children, we were hardly shy to speak in the new language when asked to. Understandable input together with natural acquisition (习得) made those language learning experiences quite fruitful.
On the other hand, in college, we lacked(缺乏) the proper way of learning. As adults, we were not confident enough to speak before knowing the language properly. What we desired was the silent way of teaching where we would have listened and acquired the language before speaking. However, the trainers focused on activities (debates, group discussions etc.) which hardly had any participation (参与). The lessons were, thus, hardly successful.
Language learning, to me, is an art by itself. Only with proper ways can this be acquired.
(Can you share your learning experiences?)
