一种组份同另一种组份分选,分选产物中除一种主要组份外,还难免混杂另一种次要组份。主要组份含量的大小和回收的多少,尽管有衡量分选效果高低的一面,但忽视次要组份含量的大小和混杂的多少,对于评价工艺的好坏仍然不够全面。例如铅锌分离的铅精矿中,不仅反映了铅(组份1)的ε_1和β_1(ε为回收率、β为品位),同时也反映锌(组份2)的ε_2和β_2。这四个指标是评价分选效果不可偏废的依据。显然,同时用四个指标衡量一种分选效果,既不方便又容易
