Background: Sport-based educational video games may have a positive effect on the motivation of pupils to improve their learning outcomes. The purpose of this study is to identify the effects of sports-based educational video games on school-based primary school students’ knowledge of science, levels of physical activity, and motivation based on their interests. Methods: Fifty-three primary school students were randomly divided into two groups. The experimental group provided a learning environment for sports-based educational video games while the control group provided a relatively stationary sitting-type educational video game environment. Results: Repeated measures of knowledge test analysis of variance analysis showed that after the two groups of students measured better than the pre-test performance, post-test score was no significant difference between groups. The experimental group was in a more positive environment. The average heart rate of the students was significantly higher than that of the control group (103 bpm) within the target heart rate range (134 bpm). The experimental group’s situational interest was higher than that of the control group. Conclusion: Sports-Educational Video Games help to improve exercise intensity and motivation than traditional video games by providing a pleasurable learning experience and adequate physical activity.
