感嘆句用来表示说话人的惊异、喜悦、愤怒或赞赏,常由 what, how 引起。what 是形容词,用来修饰名词,起加强语气的作用; how 是副词,用来修饰形容词、副词或动词,也用来加强语气。
感叹句的基本句式结构是:
1. What + a/an + 形容词 + 单数名词 + 主语 + 谓语!
2. What + 形容词 + 复数名词(或不可数名词) + 主语 + 谓语!
3. How + 形容词(或副词、动词) + 主语 + 谓语!
有时感叹句的主语和谓语可以省略。
怎样把陈述句改为感叹句呢?
首先看要感叹的词是名词还是形容词、副词或动词。如果是名词,就以 what 开头;如果是形容词、副词或动词,就以 how 开头;如果是单数名词,就以 what a/an 开头;如果是复数名词或不可数名词,就以 what 开头;如果要感叹的形容词或副词前面有 very, so, too 等词,应将它们去掉。再把主语和谓语放在句子的末尾,句末加上感叹号。例如:
1) She is a clever girl.
→What a clever girl she is!
2) John runs very fast.
→How fast John runs!
3) It’s fine weather.
→What fine weather it is!
4) They are working very hard.
→How hard they are working!
以 what 引起的感叹句可以转换为以 how 引起的感叹句,反之亦然。例如:
1) What an interesting film it is!
→How interesting the film is!
→How interesting a film it is!
2) How strange the man is!
→What a strange man he is!
巩固性练习:把下列句子改为感叹句。
1. I have read an interesting book.
2. The young man speaks English very well.
3. The watches are very nice.
4. Our classroom is so big.
5. They had a good time.
