“Autumn Water” is a classic catalogue of high school Chinese language. The PEP was selected in the sixth unit of the first volume of the senior high school. It only selected 140 words from the beginning to the phrase “I laughed at the big house” and it looked simple and easy to understand. This presents a difficult problem for teachers: After more than a hundred words of classical Chinese writing, we can guide students to learn what they have learned after the completion of the words. This article tries to talk about one’s own views, in order to initiate a study. For classical Chinese in the Chinese language teaching, the author believes that the following principles should be followed on the whole: First, the things behind the classical Chinese should be digging deeply, and they cannot be satisfied with just explaining the words. Things at the level of language should be grasped, but classical Chinese should not be used only as language material.
