In the past, bamboo resources in China were mainly used by farmers for their own use as forest by-products, with little market relevance. In recent years, due to the oversupply of cereals and the aggravating agricultural environment, everyone is looking for alternative crops that can both protect the environment and meet market demand. Bamboo is closely linked with agriculture and forestry, and is entirely possible to deal with the new challenges Chinese agriculture faces. Among the 534 species of Chinese bamboo recorded, 153 species produced edible bamboo shoots, of which 56 species were excellent ones; 139 species were used for timber production, of which 58 species were excellent ones; 116 species produced high quality bamboo shoots, of which 22 88 species were suitable for planting in the park, of which 34 species were excellent species; 45 species of bamboo could produce pulp, of which 18 species were excellent species.
