Prostaglandin (hereinafter referred to as PG) is a substance with a wide range of biological activity. Since Karim first became available in the world in 1970, its role in reproductive physiology and birth control has been increasingly emphasized. Studies of rodents, sub-primates, and primates, including humans, have shown that prostaglandins are involved in the regulation of reproductive function. This article briefly introduces some of the research findings in this area. I. Modulation of hypothalamic-pituitary function by PO: Kragt and Ojeda report that exogenous PG alters the synthesis and release of pituitary hormones in rats.
