I personally have an understanding that for those of us who have come from the “Cultural Revolution” for generations to come, there is no way to understand the life and academic aspects of our generation unless they leave the “Cultural Revolution.” If people of my age write memoirs or write memoirs, I think everybody’s first chapter may be “Cultural Revolution.” In the course of our experience, the “Cultural Revolution” laid a mark so deeply that most people’s life paths and academic choices directly start from this background. In addition, I often emphasize one question: what kind of history does a generation have and what kind of history they study? Therefore, in the study, academic history should be reduced to social history. In other words, when we understand the academic history, if we are limited to the academic itself, we will not restore the academic history to the social history, nor shall we explore it from the perspective of social history
