对镜梳妆打扮，再涂些化妆品，喷点香水，这些现代妇女每天必做的“功课”，早在几千年前的古埃及就出现了，原来木乃伊也很爱美……
On the 14th of November, 1365 BC, the construction workers, working on a temple for 1)Rameses III, went on strike. And the reason they went on strike is because they ran out of make-up. Now, this may seem a bit odd, but in fact make-up was an essential part of the tool-kit of any construction worker in ancient Egypt. The reason, of course, is because they were working all day long under the hot sun; they needed to protect their skins. And what the ancient Egyptians had invented 3,000 years before anyone had heard of “2)Factor 20” was the moisturizing sun block. As a matter of fact, ancient Egyptian men wore just as much make-up as did women.
We don’t know if the Egyptians invented make-up, but they were certainly the first to thoroughly document it. The Egyptians had every cosmetic invention that we have today: foundation, blusher, lip gloss and eye liner. Instead of 3)mascara pencils and brushes, they invented delicate 4)applicators of ivory, silver and bronze. Not even death was an excuse to look 5)off-colour. A healthy 6)complexion was ensured in the afterlife by burying handy cosmetic kits alongside their 7)sarcophagi.
