In March 2014, the advertising market as a whole posted more than 71.8 billion yuan, an increase of 5% over the same period of last year and a 20% increase from the previous quarter. On a year-on-year basis, tobacco, accessories, electrical appliances and computers and accessories accounted for the largest increases of 136%, 46% and 42% respectively. The largest decline year-on-year was in office supplies and equipment, at 22%. Entertainment and finance followed closely with 14% and 11% respectively. On a year-on-month basis, the majority of industries showed an upward trend, with the largest increase in the automotive and related products sectors at 74%. The second and third places in real estate and cosmetics / personal hygiene products went up by 65% and 40% respectively.
