Hoodwinked
HOODWINKED begins at the end of the tale and winds its way back... It all begins as a feathered and furry assortment1 of cops and detectives turn up at Granny’s cottage in the woods to answer a domestic disturbance call. It looks at first to be just another open-and-shut2 case of a woodsman assaulting3 a wolf impersonating a granny, with an assortment of criminal charges including breaking and entering, intent to eat and wielding4 an axe without a license.
But looks can be deceiving. As debonair5 detective Nicky and hard-nosedPolice Chief Grizzly and fellow police officer Bill question the slippery6 suspects, they discover each one has a completely different excuse. Not only that, but it seems that this crime has ties to the notorious7 “Goody Bandit” who has been ravaging8 the woods by stealing the valuable recipes that keep the forest in muffins9.
None of the group is exactly what they seem, and each has his own deep secrets and wily10 deceptions. The detectives soon uncover that seemingly innocent Red is worldly wise; that the big, bad Wolf has been terribly misunderstood; that Granny has a secret life no one could have imagined; and that the insecure Woodsman has some surprising ambitions of his own.

Sideways
Maya: You know, can I ask you a personal question?
Miles: Sure.
Maya:Why are you so into Pinot Noir. I mean, it’s
like a thing with you.
Miles:I don’t know, Um, it’s a hard grape to grow, as you know, right? It’s thin-skinned, temperamental, ripens early, you know. It’s not a survivor like Cabernet, which can just grow anywhere and thrive even when it’s neglected. No, Pinot Noir needs constant care and attention. In fact, it can grow only in these really specific tucked-away corners of the world. And only the most patient and nurturing of growers can do it, really. Only somebody who really takes the time to understand Pinot Noir’s potential can then coax it into its full expression. And then, I mean, oh, it’s flavors. They’re just the most haunting and brilliant and thrilling and subtle and ancient on the planet. No, I mean you know, cabernets can be powerful and exalting too, but they seem prosaic to me, by comparison.
