Reporter: What’s up everybody? How are ya? Here we are at the 79th annual Academy Awards, a celebration of the best that Hollywood has to offer. Well, unlike previous years, there was no clear-cut[明显的] favorite heading to the Best Picture category, so the suspense[悬念] was comparable to a very good film.
Jack Nicholson: And the Oscar goes to…The Departed.
Reporter: And that very good film, my pick for best picture, did, in fact, win in the gangster thriller, The Departed, overall picking up a leading four Oscars including Best Picture, long overdue[迟到的], finally going to Martin Scorsese, and he couldn’t believe it himself.
Martin Scorsese: Could, could you double check the envelope? So many people, over the years, have been wishing this for me. Such…strangers, you know, I go walking in the street, people’d say something to me…I go in a doctor’s office, I go in a…whatever, elevators, people saying, “I wish you should win. You should win.”I go for X-rays, “You should win one.”And I’m saying thank you.
Reporter: The winners acting honors ranged from a king to a queen. Forest Whittaker grabbed the Best Actor for his work in The (Last) King of Scotland, and Helen Mirren was pure royalty as Best Actress for her portrayal and respect for The Queen.
Helen Mirren: I salute[敬礼] Her courage and Her consistency[坚韧] and I thank Her because for Her…if it wasn’t for Her, I most, most certainly would not be here. Ladies and gentlemen, I give you, The Queen注 ！
Reporter: Meanwhile, a shocker for Best Supporting Actor, front-runner[一路领先的人] Eddie Murphy lost to Little Miss Sunshine’s Alan Arkin, and it was a dream night for Eddie’s co-star, Jennifer Hudson, who, as expected, scored Best Supporting Actress.
Jennifer Hudson: Wow, if my grandmother was here to see me now, she was my biggest inspiration for everything, because she was a singer and she had the passion for it but she never had the chance. And that was the thing that pushed me forward to continue.
