“以学定教”中“学”指的是与学生的发展有关的内容,诸如学习动机、学习兴趣、学习内容、学习方式……“教”指的是与教师的教学活动有关的内容,诸如教学目标、教学内容、教学方式……教师要树立以学生为本的教学理念,着眼于学生的发展,根据学生的实际来确定自己的教学。而“对话教学”是指为发展学生的创造潜能,以师生平等为基础,以学生自主探究为主要特征,以问题为核心,在教师指导下,通过师生之间、生生之间以及师生与文本之间的对话进行教学的活动过程。“对话”具体在实践中体现为平等、自主的交流。因此正确实施对话教学,能使学生在自主、平等的教学环境中,在身心愉悦的状态下实现学习目标。两者的核心思想都是以人为本,以生为本,着眼于学生发展。“对话”在“以学定教”教学时是绝不可少的教学形式和方法。
