洪武年间,广东铸有洪武通宝背“广”、背“广二”、背“广三”、背“广五”、背“广十”5种纪地兼纪值铜钱。经常见到的洪武背“广”钱都是一些形制较小、重量较轻、铸工较差之品,而符合明初钱制规定的不多。但出土钱品的情形就与之相反,大多数都是形制大、重量足、铸工精,边廓穿口基本上都没有碰撞、磨损痕迹,显然是新铸钱尚未使用就被埋藏。出土的零星散钱,都是放在一些小坛小罐里,说明这些都是黎民百姓平
