苏联劳动人民拥护和爱戴的、杰出的农业科学家李森科院士,发展了苏联先进的、农业科学的成就,把它和社会主义结合起来,在建立社会主义农业中起了伟大的作用。李森科揭露了植物生长的秘密,发现植物的生长是有阶段性的,如果没有完成前一个阶段便不能进入后一阶段,掌握了这个规律,便能控制植物的生长,按人类的需要去改造植物。他创造了植物春化法,用人工把冬种变成春种,综米邱林之后,又一次的给虚伪的旧遗传学以沉重的打击。李森科的农业方法由于苏联优良的集体农庄制度得到推广和发展,并且帮助集体农庄在生产上奠立了牢固的科学基础。这篇文章主要介绍李森科阶段发育学说的内容,和应用到农业生产上去所起的作用。文中举出了许多生动的例子,尤其是有不少的中国实例,不但帮助我们深刻了解阶段发育学说的理论,同时使我们认识到生产实践在发展科学理论上的重要意义。
