February 5, 62 AD, an earthquake shook the southeastern region of Naples. In the next 17 years, many earthquakes will take place on this tranquil green land. The Romans there will be accustomed to this intermittent tremor with no worries, and they will continue planting and harvesting in the thick ashes of vineyards around Mount Vesuvius. Farmers and citizens are not aware that Mount Vesuvius, with its gentle green hills and fertile mountainside, is more than just a mountain. They do not understand, by shaking, that natural voice is trying to tell them. They do not understand that the vibration of Vesuvius will infuse the fear of God into their hearts and warn them of the imminent bad luck.
