目前在计算胶带输送机的主要阻力时,阻力系数主要是根据经验估算选取的。德国工业标准DIN21101中推荐的阻力系数f的估算方法也是从实践经验中得出的。在理论研究方面,虽然还没找出根据胶带和物料的物理性质及输送机的结构形状计算主要阻力的完整公式,但通过有关研究机构的理论研究和实验验证,现在已经能够定性地估算各种阻力的量值.并对阻滞这种物理现象有了更深入的了解。
