The article explores the features of the fifth and fifth generation domestic and foreign plans being implemented in various capitalist countries and the prospects for the use of such computers in communications. The fifth generation computer plan developed by Japan from 1982 to 1991 is being implemented under the leadership of the Ministry of International Trade and Industry. It is scheduled to catch up with what has now been achieved by U.S. computing technology after three years of implementation. The ESPRIT program in Western Europe (Strategic Plan for European Information Technology Research) is scheduled to allocate between $ 150 million and $ 200 million for the same type of computer that was built by 1989 to be 1,000 times faster than the best model available today. In order to successfully accomplish this task,
