北宋时期产生的理学被称为新儒学,理学之新就在于它援佛入儒,吸收佛教心性理论发挥儒家旧典主要是《中庸》、《易经》中一向未被注意的性命之学,从哲学本体论的高度阐明儒家传统的伦理规范。二程“性即理也”的提出,把人的本性与宇宙最高原则天理完全等同起来,将儒家人伦道德规范提升到本体论的高度,标志着理学的建立。理学家把理学的开创之功归于周、张、二程诸人,二程更自标榜,自称他们于千百年后得圣人不传
The Neo-Confucianism of Neo-Confucianism was born during the Northern Song Dynasty.
