我国翻译界对于外国人名、书名等约定俗成翻译问题时有论及,而对历史机构译名约定俗成问题极少作过专题论述。本文试谈一孔之见,旨在抛砖引玉。鸦片战争以后,中国门户开放,各资本主义国家纷纷来中国设立各种机构,开办工矿企业,对中国进行侵略和剥削。这些历史机构虽纷繁庞杂,但其汉译名在当时已约定俗成,随意翻译不得。然而,长期以来,由于缺乏这方面的工具书,其汉译名比较混乱,很不统一,
The translation community in China has always dealt with the issue of the translation of names and titles of foreigners, but seldom elaborate treatise on the convention of the translation of historical institutions. This article discusses a hole in opinion, aims to start a discussion. After the Opium War, China opened its doors and all the capitalist countries came to China to set up various institutions to set up factories and mines to invade and exploit China. Although these historical institutions are numerous and complicated, their Chinese translations have been established at that time and no free translation is allowed.
