  【Abstract】In recent years, the relationship between doctors and patients has become a pressing issue. This paper analyses the status of the doctor-patient relationship in China and the causes of the intensive relationship in various aspects. Additionally, the solutions for this issue is illustrated in terms of legal support, medical system, trust and media.

  1. Status of the doctor-patient relationship in China
  The doctor-patient is a type of the human relationship which occurs during the medical process between doctor and patient. It is based on diseases and medical science, as well as the rights and duties of medical ethics. The harmony of the doctor-patient relationship has an important role in the fighting between human and diseases. The understandings between two roles can ensure the successfully medical activities. Efficient communication is also the requirement of the recovery. Therefore, the coordination between doctors and patients is the momentum of the improvements of the medical industry.
  However, the doctor-patient relationship is becoming more intense in recent years in our country, which has become the focus of society. Statics shows the number of violent incidents in the hospital is increasing since the beginning of the 21st century. Severe incidents have also happened, such as murdering doctor and kidnapping nursery, which reflect the intensive situation of the doctor-patient relationship.
  2. Reason for the intensive doctor-patient relationship
  Firstly, the property of the highly specialist and the limitation of the medical technology are the origin of the intensive relationship. Most patients have little knowledge of diseases. Some medical personnel use the fear in patients’ mind, they regard their work as a charity and have a poor attitude toward patients. The unsatisfied patients then carry out extreme behaviour in an urgent situation. On the other hand, the lack of medical knowledge as well as over advertised also leads to over expectation in the patients’ mind. Patients may also ignore the complexity and dangerous of medical activity, leading to a severe doctor-patient relationship.
  Secondly, the incomplete medical system and lack of information awareness also lead to the issue. For a long time, the situation of paying doctor by medicine and commercialise medicine are existing in our medical system. A lot of public hospitals ignore the public benefit and seek economical profit, causing problems such as difficult procedures and expensive medicines in public. On the other hand, some patients regard medical compensation as a way of making money, they use violence as a way of solving problems. Moreover, the lack of legal support and legal definition also makes it difficult to regulate the medical activity, which provides opportunities for giving vent to anger.   Thirdly, the lack of communication between doctors and patients also block the problem-solving. Although modern medical science is developing, and medical problems are solving, there are still many uncertainties and new diseases in the medical area. The term invalid rescue is very common in the hospital and the medical incidents can’t be fully avoided, which leads to the dispute between doctors and patients. Patients are difficult to appeal and protect their interests. Doctors are difficult to handle patients’ mind instantly, which cause the issue as well.
  Finally, the wrong voices and discussions also escalate the issue. Some media workers have little knowledge of medicine, they use the opportunity to promote their inaccurate story, which worsens the relationship.
  3. Solutions to the doctor-patience relationship issue
  No matter how to analyse the issue, in terms of moral and interest, the doctors and patients should always in the same team. During the improvement process of the relationship, we should aware that the only solution is to improve the medical insurance system and develop the related mechanism. Governments shall increase financial support to public hospitals and free them from economic interest. Medical personnel shall enhance professional education, establishing the People First service philosophy. Patience should also improve the legal awareness, and coordinate with doctors to communicate rationally. When disputes happen, doctors shall explain the reasonable cause to patients and their relatives, patients shall also give enough trust to doctors, then solve the issue fairly. Finally, the media should stick to professional quality, restore the original event truthfully and eliminate the distorting facts. They shall guide the public opinion correctly and build a good social atmosphere.
