“Huaxia Ji” is Pound’s masterpiece of English translation of Chinese classical poetry. For a long time, the debate has been going on whether or not the “Huaxia Ji” should be regarded as a translator in the strict sense. This article points out that by virtue of his profound understanding of Chinese culture, Pound succeeded in grasping the quintessence of Chinese ancient poetry and carrying on a unique creation again during the translation process. The book “Huaxia Ji” reproduces the artistic conception of ancient Chinese poetry from the perspective of language and imagery. Therefore, “Huaxia Ji” is not only translation, but also a successful translation. “Huaxia Ji” made the West know more about classical Chinese poetry and also strongly influenced the development of western poetry.
