肩负着承前启后、继往开来重大历史使命的党的十四大,在举世瞩目中拉开了大幕。而以报道重大政治新闻为乐事的中外记者,更是趋之若鹜,使出浑身解数,活跃于会场内外。一场没有硝烟的新闻大战也拉开了帷幕。一报名参加十四大报道的中外记者创下了最高纪录,总数达630多人,是历次党代会记者人数最多的一次。其中来自香港、澳门地区32家新闻单位的67名,来自台湾地区24家新闻单位的38名,有外国101家新闻单位常驻中国的记者176名,此外还有临时来
