Objective To analyze the therapeutic effect of modified phacoemulsification in the treatment of high myopia and cataract. Methods Sixty - four patients with high myopia and cataract were divided into two groups: modified group and conventional group, with 32 cases in each group. Modified group implementation of modified phacoemulsification surgery, conventional group implementation of conventional phacoemulsification surgery. The changes of corneal endothelial cell count and postoperative complications were compared between the two groups. Results Comparisons within the group: Compared with the preoperative one week after operation in the conventional group, there was no significant difference (t = 1.559, P> 0.05); one month after the operation and three months after the operation were compared with those before operation , The differences were statistically significant (t = 6.632,6.013, P <0.05). The improvement group 1 week after surgery, 1 month after surgery, 3 months after surgery compared with the group before surgery, the difference was not statistically significant (t = 0.744,1.265,1.327, P> 0.05). There were no significant differences in corneal endothelial cell counts between the two groups before surgery (t = 0.056, P> 0.05). There was no significant difference in corneal endothelial cell counts between the two groups = 0.808, P> 0.05). There were significant differences in corneal endothelial cell counts between the two groups at 1 month and 3 months after surgery (t = 4.897, 3.789, P <0.05). The complication rate in the improved group was lower than that in the conventional group, with significant difference (χ ~ 2 = 4.010, P <0.05). Conclusions Modified phacoemulsification is effective in treating high myopia and cataract.
