Objective: To investigate the characteristics of the bacterial spectrum of topical 5% imiquimod cream in the treatment of wound infection of genital warts and its effect on wound healing. Methods: 112 cases of condyloma acuminatum wound secretions treated with topical 5% imiquimod cream from January 2008 to June 2009 in our outpatient department were collected and tested for drug susceptibility. The patients were randomly divided into 2 groups, one group Local wet compress treatment, a group of antibiotics at the same time, compared the recovery of two groups of wounds. RESULTS: Of the 112 patients, 16 out of 16 bacteria were cultured. There was no significant difference in efficacy between the topical wet-dressing treatment group and the antibiotic-treated group based on the susceptibility test results. CONCLUSIONS: Topical 5% imiquimod cream is effective in treating wounds caused by condyloma acuminatum. However, systemic anti-infective therapy is of no significance for wound healing. Local wet treatment can quickly restore wounds.
