The consultant met a woman worker and her main job was to write down a total of how many pairs of boots she had produced on a small copy at each shift. When the book is full, she changes to another book. When the consultant asked her what the precise figures for producing boots were for each change of shift, the lady replied that she did not know exactly what she was doing. Later investigations by consultants found that this was due to the fact that during the Second World War the Germans ordered the factory to report the total number of boots per day so that the factory could not secretly manufacture boots for the resistance. 40 years after World War II, this Nazi rule in times of war actually
