α-glucosidase inhibitors are commonly used hypoglycemic agents, reducing postprandial blood glucose-based, mainly acarbose, voglibose and miglitol, three hypoglycemic effect no significant difference. After eating, the carbohydrates in food after many decomposition, decomposition into disaccharides, and finally to monosaccharides, can be absorbed by the body. This process requires many enzymes, a group of enzymes called α-glucosidase. α-glucosidase inhibitor acts on the upper intestine, slowing the absorption of glucose and reducing postprandial blood glucose by inhibiting α-glycosidase and retarding the breakdown of carbohydrates such as starch into glucose.
