Starting from the harmonious Chinese characters, this essay conscientiously explores the origin of the simplified characters, the hegemony of the dictionary and the problems of writing and literature in mainland China. This article argues that simplified characters are a historical phenomenon, but as a factual writing and universal system, it is something after 1956. Too few words, irrational font structure, man-made and strong ideology, etc., is its main problem. Simplified words are synchronized with the political movement and borrowed from dictionaries (and textbooks for primary and secondary schools), reinforced by literary and political books, hiding a hegemony behind them. Due to shrivelling and witheredness, simplified characters make grace and elegance, and Chinese ideographic systems with a feminine and gentle touch are greatly compromised. Nevertheless, the simplified characters should not be abolished. But it has a way to go, is to return to their own source of living water (traditional Chinese characters) is soaked by moisture, and then like a Phoenix Nirvana bath and fire rebirth. At the same time as using the simple language, select a part of the word from the latter to supplement the former to dilute the ideological taste, and then expel the unjustified and artificially created words.
