Toxin-antitoxin (TA) systems are widespread among prokaryotes and play important roles in cell physiology including forming biofilms as well as persisiter cells.Till now, five different types of TA systems (Type Ⅰ-Type V) have been characterized, depending on the the nature of the antitoxin and the type of interaction between the toxin and the antitoxin. However, related studies of identification and functional studies of TA systems in the important opportunistic pathogen Pseudomonas aeruginosa are very limited.
