铝热剂的燃烧试验,由于缺乏铝热剂和适当的设备,常常不能在中学中进行演示试验,然而这种试验也可以用每一个中学中所具有的一些药品来进行。我们是这样进行试验的。将10.8克铝粉和32克三氧化二铁制备的混合物成堆地撒在一块铸铁板上,此铸铁板置于带砂子的蒸发皿中。在此堆的中部作一个深洼,往此深洼中放上一些磨碎的高锰酸钾。在高锰酸钾上加1—2滴甘油并用铝热剂混合物将洼填平,此后,这些物质之间的反应就会很快地开始,大家知道,在反应进行时有大量的热放出。烧着的铝热剂会迅速地发出耀眼闪光。还原铁就从铸铁板上流到砂子里。
Thermite burn tests are often not demonstrated in secondary schools due to the lack of thermite and proper equipment, however, this test can be performed with a few medications in every secondary school. We did this experiment. A mixture of 10.8 g of aluminum powder and 32 g of ferric oxide was piled on a cast iron plate placed in a sanding pan with sand.
