由14个国家的17家投资商共同投资的IRIDIUM公司计划于明年9月24日将所有66颗卫星全部发射完毕并随后投入运营。目前已由美国麦道公司的Delta Ⅱ火箭成功发射5颗,由俄罗斯质子火箭发射的7颗卫星也告成功。我国将从今年10月起承担1/3的发射任务。 “铱系统”目前共集资19亿美元,摩托罗拉占有25%的股份,我国航天工业总公司的股份占4.4%。与之配套的全球13～16个地球站正在抓紧建设。据悉,至今年底,“铱系统”计划完成44～48颗卫星的发射,目前该系统已成为四大卫星通信系统(其它是Global-star,Odyssey,ICO)中,进展最快的卫星通信系统。
IRIDIUM, a joint venture of 17 investors from 14 countries, plans to have all 66 satellites fully launched and put into operation by September 24 next year. At present, five Delta II rockets have been successfully launched by the U.S. McDonnell Douglas and seven satellites launched by the Russian proton rocket have also succeeded. Our country will assume 1/3 of the launch mission from October this year. “Iridium system ” currently raised a total of 1.9 billion US dollars, Motorola holds 25% of the shares, China Aerospace Corporation shares accounted for 4.4%. The accompanying 13 to 16 earth stations in the world are stepping up their efforts. It is reported that by the end of this year, “Iridium System” plans to complete the launching of 44-48 satellites. At present, the system has become the fastest-growing satellite communication among the four major satellite communication systems (the others are Global-star, Odyssey, ICO) system.
