小麦高产栽培的最终目的,是在单位面积上获得高产优质的籽粒。即在提高光合总生产量的基础上,把植株制造的光合产物最大限度地累积到籽粒中去,以增加粒重。在小麦高产栽培中,只有当单位面积穗数、每穗粒数、千粒重三者协调组合下,才能获得合乎理想的产量。其中穗数是高产的基础,但当穗数达到一定限度后,就要从提高每穗粒数和千粒重即增加穗重上下功夫,才能进一步高产。而要增加每穗粒数和千粒重,又不能不从改变个体发育环境上探索新的途径。几年来,我们通过穴播的种植方式,在降低群体的前提下,促使个体得到充分发育,能大大改善生育后期的光合环境,
