The newly promulgated English curriculum standard states that the evaluation of students should adhere to the principle of equal emphasis on formative assessment and final assessment, focusing not only on results but also on processes. The final assessment should include listening, oral testing and written examination, comprehensive examination of students’ comprehensive language proficiency. In order to strengthen the listening and speaking teaching in primary schools and promote the balanced development of listening, speaking, reading and writing skills, our district has been exploring and practicing primary school spoken English tests.
