Lu Xun’s novels start from the needs of expression, often in a specific language environment, using a special form of language to obtain a certain rhetorical effect. “Hometown” describes the tone of Yang Er-ying’s speech with “I” as an example: “’Ha! It looks like this! The beard is so long!’ A kind of sharp noise suddenly shouted.” It is people or animals that have vocal organs, or things that are equipped with sounding devices. The sound itself cannot be “screamed” (in general usage, “sound” can be matched with “sound”). However, when we read here, we do not feel stiff and awkward, but we do not think it is wrong, because it is in line with the requirement to portray the special character of this particular character of Yang Er-yi.
