Where the pools are bright and deep,
Where the grey trout[鲑鱼] lies asleep,
Up the river and o'er[即over] the lea[草地],
That’s the way for Billy and me.
Where the blackbird[黑鹂] sings the latest,
Where the hawthorn[山楂] blooms the sweetest,
Where the nestlings[未离巢的雏鸟] chirp and flee,
That’s the way for Billy and me.
Where the mowers[刈割者] mow the cleanest,
Where the hay lies thick and greenest;
There to trace the homeward[向家的] bee,
That’s the way for Billy and me.
Where the hazel[黄褐色的] bank is steepest,
Where the shadow falls the deepest,
Where the clustering[使成群] nuts fall free,
That’s the way for Billy and me.
Why the boys should drive away
Little sweet maidens[未婚少女] from the play,
Or love to banter[开玩笑] and fight so well,
That’s the thing I never could tell.
But this I know, I love to play,
Through the meadow[牧场], among the hay;
Up the water and o誩r the lea,
That’s the way for Billy and me.
穿过牧场,置身草堆;
