  离圣彼得堡不远有一个地方,人们亲昵地称它为“阿仔尔歌”(小湖群,译者注)。这个名称不只是地理上的概念,同时还是文化上的。19世纪末20世纪初,曾有过文学艺术创作者来到这里住下来,开始在这里工作、交流和休息。今天这里已经成为画家村,可称为是俄罗斯的现代艺术大本营。这个阿仔尔歌社区的非正式领袖是德米特里·卡明盖尔。
  德米特里·卡明盖尔1944年生于列宁格勒。毕业于列宁格勒慕西娜工艺美术学院雕塑专业。在生活中各种各样的矛盾的力量驱使下,他第一个来到阿仔尔歌村,在几近废弃的房子里住下来,也就是从这时起他的创作开始成熟,这次迁居成了他艺术生涯的一个分水岭。
  很难一句话说清德米特里·卡明盖尔作品的主旨——对社会现实的反映、对独特艺术风格的探索、对哲学观念的阐释、对神话的深层挖掘、对极乐世界的向往?也许,他的创作可以看作是一个游戏,但这个游戏并非娱乐意义上的,而是“在这个世界上所有围绕在我们身边的那些不同寻常的因素”1。
  
  2003年在苏兹达里湖畔树立了纪念碑《船手》。纪念碑由石块组叠而成,让人想起著名的巨石阵。船手的感觉,仿佛呈现给我们这是几千年前的景象。在他面前凝固了古罗马人、勇敢的海盗、光荣的古俄罗斯人和强壮的古希腊人的历史。不同神话的融汇表现的不只是时代和空间上的交融和位移,还有体量和造型上的融合。如此船手的桨和手臂合成一体,同样处理了躯干和船体——这是一个漂亮的“换喻”的例子,具有传奇浪漫主义的特征。
  雕塑家的“游戏”不仅仅体现在用造型艺术来表达自己的观念上,同时还表现在卡明盖尔经常在阿仔尔歌组织的活动上,包括各种各样的艺术节,行为艺术,公共装置设施,赋予雕塑神秘力量等等。

   There is a place named “Ozerki” not far away from St. Petersburg. This is not only a name on geography, but also on culture. There are many writers living, working, resting and communicating here during the end of 19th century and the beginning of 20th century. Now it is a village for artists, and a modern art CAMP for Russia as well. The informal leader here is Dmitryi Kaminker.
  Dmitryi Kaminker was born in 1944 in Leningrad. He graduated from Sculpture Department of Leningrad Muhina Academy of Technical Arts. He came to Ozerki village first at the pressure of different conflict in his life, renting a discarded house and beginning his career. That was a new art period for him, which is called “mature times”.
  It’s hard to describe the point of Dmitryi Kaminker’s art works in one word. The reaction to society , the research of art style, the explanation to philosophy opinion, the understanding to a legend, or the yearning to the paradise? Maybe we can just regard his art work as “game”, not the game on entertainment, but on “finding something or some factors unusual that all around me in the world”1。
  At first, what Dmitryi Kaminker had seen in Ozerki is something common in ordinary lives in the past few centuries. When these things meeting with the sculptor, they changed into sculpture works with magic effect. The most famous art works “the Classical World in Russian Countryside” and “Orpheus Falling into Acheron” belong to this style. The works of this style represent the mourn to those things never being back again, to those days full of happiness and enthusiasm as that of beautiful Venus in Russian countryside long time ago. These are all something in the past. What left now are only an old bed and a wood house where there is a well in it. It is said that, the well represent saving and the resource of females’ sex energy. But nothing can help Orpheus now. He almost became a shadow. Dmitryi Kaminker made the surface of the sculpture in a rough way, which makes the whole sculpture work unitary.
   In the 1990ths, Dmitryi Kaminker produced a series of “Symbol Slogan” sculpture. In these works, he tried to rethink the past, beat the ugly and call for the truth. The theme of his work “Organizer” is about the agitating movements in Soviet times. A shouting person with a trumpet is made of some discarded materials. Nails are used for hair, while bolts, chains and hooks for different organs. There is a pin on his heart, which was originally a door from some old furnace. Audience can’t help smiling with it, in bitter and tears. Dmitryi Kaminker found a fantastic world between life and death,which is just his real position.
  
   Except for Greece legend,Dmitryi Kaminker also referred to legend from Egypt. Those great gods in Egyptian Pantheon was described in a modern way. Anubis became a female dog with lamp in hand. The sculptor played between the shape, the implied meaning and different signification of different times. He took the same attitude even when making big urban sculptures.
  In 2003, a monument sculpture named “Helmsman” is established by the Suzdal River. The monument is made of stones, which reminding people of the famous “Stone Huge”. The sculpture reminded people of the helmsman of thousands years ago, ancient Rome, brave pirates, glorious ancient Russia and strong Greece. Different legends represent not only the change of time and space, but also of the size and plastic. In the sculpture, oar and the helmsman’s arms, as well as that of body and the ship was made in a beautiful and romantic imagery.
  The sculptor’s “game” is not only on the conceptual art by plastic,but also on the movements that Dmitryi Kaminker usually organized in Ozerki including various art festivals, body art, urban installation, etc. They all represent the mysterious power of the sculptures themselves.
