Analysis:
8 or more As: Your high score means you view the acquisition of possessions as essential for happiness. This success means much more to you than other life goals such as self-esteem and social integration. You may suffer from lower moods than lower scorers, and your materialism is a way of dealing with your low self-worth.
5~7 As: Your materialism stems more from a need to “keep up with the Joneses”. You believe that you can buy your way into other people’s respect and you may fail to realise that sometimes excessive consumption alienates rather than attracts.
2~4 As: How materialistic you are depends on your partner and your friends. You are slightly guilty about enjoying luxury and you aspire to be more giving. But your competitive instinct often takes over, particularly when you are feeling down, and then you see happiness as the product of the acquisition of material possessions.
0~1 As: You are scoring low because your sense of identity comes more from your values than what you own. Your unfashionableness may be seen as eccentric by others, who might not give you recognition for your achievements since they assume you are not interested in anything so base as public success.
