OBJECTIVE: To compare the microleakage between the gingival wall and the gingival wall when using the wet bonding technique to repair the V-type cavity. METHODS: Forty-eight human molars were divided into three groups A, B and C according to the buccal, mesial and distal surfaces, and each group was randomly divided into 4 groups (n = 12). The cavity was located at the junction of enamel and dentin. Class A1 and A2 were prepared as V-type cavities; however, A2 was used to prepare cave-edges; and A3 and A4 were prepared with V-type cavities by air blasting, but 50 μm and 27 μm alumina particles were used respectively. B, C Each group is treated in the same way as the corresponding group A. All teeth were colored with 0.5% methylene blue. Results: All specimens had severe microleakage at the gingival wall (p <0.001). Conclusions: The wet bonding technique failed to significantly reduce microleakage at the gingival wall of Class V cavities
