词源是指个别词的来源和发展过程。在语文教学中,讲清一些词语的来源和发展过程,常常能引起学生浓厚的兴趣,帮助他们深刻理解词语的含意和用法,因而对这些词语将会留下终身难忘的印象。例如“陈陈相因”这个成语,孤立地讲,固然抽象难懂,就是放在一定的句子中来讲,也往往理解不深。但是,如果利用词源的知识加以点拨,就容易接受,并理解较深了。“陈陈相因”始见于《史记·平准书》:“太仓
