From the Movie Corpse Bride
选自电影《僵尸新娘》
故事梗概:19世纪欧洲的一个村庄,一个叫作维克多的男青年回家完婚。行走在阴森的树林中,为了让即将到来的婚礼更加完美,他决定要做一次演习。于是,他单膝跪在地上,开玩笑似地把结婚戒指套在面前的一根树枝上,讲出了自己的新婚誓言。那个树枝竟忽然间变成一根腐烂的手指,一个身披婚纱的女子破土而出,她自称是被谋杀的,更令人无法接受的是,她确定自己就是面前这个傻小子维克多的合法妻子。于是维克多被引进了另一个世界里,并和这位僵尸新娘完婚。他要面对两个要和自己结婚的姑娘,生死两界,两难之间,维克多必须作出抉择……

Corpse Bride: What?
Elder Gutknecht: There is a 1)complication with your marriage.
Corpse Bride: I don’t understand.
Elder Gutknecht: ①The 2)vows are binding only until death do you part.
Corpse Bride: What are you saying?
Elder Gutknecht: Death has already parted you.
Corpse Bride: If he finds out, he’ll leave. There must be something you can do.
Elder Gutknecht: Well, there is one way.
Maggot: Oh, please, please, let me tell her.
Elder Gutknecht: It requires the greatest 3)sacrifice.
Maggot: Go on, ②get to the good part.
Corpse Bride: What is it?
Maggot: We have to kill him!
Corpse Bride: What?
Elder Gutknecht: Victor would have to give up the life he had forever. He would need to repeat his vows in the land of the living and drink from the wine of ages.
Corpse Bride: Poison!
Elder Gutknecht: This would stop his heart forever. Only then would he be free to give it to you.
Corpse Bride: ③I could never ask him.
Victor Van Dort: You don’t have to. I’ll do it.
Elder Gutknecht: My boy, if you choose this path you may never return to the world above. Do you understand?
Victor Van Dort: I do.

古老头:维克多必须永远放弃他的生命。他必须在阳间重复他的婚誓,然后再喝下寿终酒。
僵尸新娘:毒酒!
古老头:这会使他的心永远停止跳动。这样一来你才能得到他的心。
僵尸新娘:我不可能要求他这么做。
维克多:你不必要求,我愿意。
古老头:孩子,如果你选择了这条路,你将永远无法回到阳世了。你明白吗?
维克多:我明白。
